Could jetpacks move from just a fantasy to a serious mode of transport?
A deal between Dubai's civil defence force and New Zealand-based Martin Aircraft suggests that the technology is about to move mainstream. Dubai has ordered up to 20 jetpacks to be delivered next year. Each jetpack is worth around $250,000 which is equivalent to £165,000. Dubai wants to use the jetpacks for serious cases such as rescue and investigation. They are thought to be extremely useful for rescuing people from fires which are in some of Dubai’s tallest buildings.
