Liebherr recently unveiled it’s new 50m truck-mounted concrete pump, named the 50 M5 XXT. Liebherr is rapidly growing their portfolio of truck-mounted concrete pumps and this is the latest addition, with an operating weight of less than 40 tonnes and a multi-folding five-section boom capable of reaching up to 49.1m in length and 44.4m horizontally, the new pump is flexible and compact.
All-German made Liebherr 50 M5 XXT is built with simplified electronics and robust components. Providing customers with a heavy machine that would be structurally safe and sound in operation and that would last many years.
The machine is light on electronics, with just relays and a sealed computer board, and the hydraulics are also simplified. A proven open loop design is used for the hydraulic system. This enables the hydraulic oil to be used efficiently. This machine also doesn’t have a accumulator circuit, instead they use the main pump to drive it. This is to take the hydraulic pump out of the system to get rid of failure and more pressure can be sent to the shift s-valve. Which translates into being able to pump harsher, coarser mixes.
They have also decided to simplify the maintenance by using components common to all the Liebherr concrete pumps. Liebherr concrete pumps are interchangeable subject to wear. This means that the owners don’t need to keep a stock of parts in multiple sizes as they are all the same. The one-piece design of the concrete pistons and cups makes it easy to remove and simplifies maintenance. There are 4 different pump units available for the 50 M5 XXT with outputs of between 138 m3 and 167 m3 per hour. The reduction in unnecessary wear that makes the parts last longer is because the pump is load sensitive and because it is shifting with just enough pressure for the concrete load.
It’s the only manufacturer to supply the patented XXT narrow support, which is very stable and warp resistant. The four outriggers on the 50 M5 XXT are pivotable which is a big benefit on construction sites with limited space as it gives a high level of flexibility when setting up. Gaining more than 180-degrees working range on the boom. The front and rear outriggers pivot on the same point and are fixed directly to the body of the truck. With the newly-designed boom pedestal. Liebherr has tried to keep the weight down but at the same time increased the stability.
This machine can also be used with chassis from different manufacturers. Depending on the chassis, the total length of the 50 M5 XXT is around 12 m in the transport position. To guarantee safe driving and handling on construction sites the new boom is compact and has basically no projection. Customers can choose from additional storage compartments, a modular water tank or additional steps on the left-hand side.
